BABU BANARSI DAS (1912-1985)

As a dynamic and gallant Youngman hailing from Bulandshahar, Babu Banarasi Das Ji joined the struggle for freedom of our country and was jailed several times by the British Government for his participation in the non-violence movement of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

During his long political career, he worked as Minister, Speaker, Member of Parliament (Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was a brilliant organizer, interpreter and orator. All those who came in contact with him were inspired by his ideals of simple life style, command on languages and a practical approach to problems.

Many a battle had been fought during his lifetime and many a battle won. He did not know how to surrender and even when he was face to face with death, he never gave in.

It has been rightly said that:

"Man doth not yield himself to the angels,
Not even unto death, utterly, save by the weakness of his feeble will"

We are proud of the great soul, who had inspired and shaped our present and continues to illuminate our future.
